Patience is a Virtue

I cannot believe the end is within our grasp. Matthew and I have had just an unusual journey finding our first home. Looking back now, I do believe that everything that happened, happened for a reason. We found a perfect first home and are so excited to close next week. I did all my researching ahead of time and we have all the renovation projects picked out and budgeted.

We are putting in new vinyl gray wood plank floors throughout the whole house (except for the bathroom). We are painting the kitchen cabinets white (to save some money) and having a new counter-top installed. We are also changing the layout of the kitchen slightly, which I am super excited about and also adding a dishwasher (I would die without one). The walls  of the kitchen, dining room and living rooms are going to be a light gray color. The bedroom walls will be white with one green accent wall. I haven’t decided what color walls I want to do in the office yet. Ideas anyone???

We have already started taking the “before” pictures so everyone can really see how major the transformation will be. Of course we are changing most of the fixtures as well (ex. Fans, lights, light switches, molding) to make the space feel more modern. We are putting in all new stainless steel kitchen appliances (french door refrigerator, slide in range, range hood, microwave and dishwasher) and also replacing the washer and dryer with an updated set as well. We are trying to make conscious decisions to make our home more eco-friendly and energy efficient.

We realize that over the next four or five weeks our lives will become very hectic with the strain of the renovation, but for the time being, we are very excited to get started. Fingers crossed there are no major problems along the way!
Sooner than later,
