I hope you are all enjoying the new and improved blog layout! I know I can’t stop looking at it (I’m a dork). I partnered with another blogger, Emma Bauso, who I work with professionally and we thought it was time to make the blog more user friendly and interactive. We’ve (well really Emma did the designing, I just told her my vision) designed icons for all my social media links and categorized my blog posts into five categories. This way older blogs are more searchable, or if you only like following or reading about one area of my life, you can!
On another more exciting note, I had a group workshop coaching session today right outside of NYC with world renowned pageant coach, Michelle Holmes for the upcoming Miss New York USA pageant. I definitely made the right choice signing up for some coaching. I had no idea how much there was to learn about posture, presentation, walking and modeling yourself on stage. Michelle gave me, and the rest of the group, a lot of great advice that I will use these next two weeks to practice with! I anticipate setting up a skype session with her, just to help with some wardrobe, jewelrey and interview answer decisions/opinions.
This whole experience still seems a little bit unreal, but it has already changed my life in more ways than I can explain. So, here it goes…
One of my life’s ambitions has always been to start my own company or organization (from the ground up) and work within corporate management. After becoming a state finalist in the Miss New York USA pageant, I have come to realize that the sky really is the limit for me and that I truly do come from an incredible community. I am meeting and talking with a few different executive directors and business owners to helps get their views and advice about starting up my own little project/organization. It would definitely start small, but my hope is that over time it could grow into something more.
I want to be able to give back to the community that has helped me in more ways than one, and I’m thinking that the project would help children and young adults (somehow) in a positive way. The mission and details are still in the works. I’ve also looked into partnering/sharing my project on dosomething.org so that the awareness level and reach go beyond just a local level. So am I crazy? Or what do you all think? Whether or not I win Miss New York USA 2014, it’s my year to make a difference in my state, so I’m giving it my all.
Sooner than later,
