Local Trash Pick-Up
This year, as Miss Finger Lakes 2014/2015, in combined efforts with IGNITE, Cayuga County’s Young Professionals, I did a trash pick up in my local neighborhood. It was actually really upsetting to see how much trash there was on the side of the road just 50 feet from our house, but also very rewarding to know that although I am just one person, I did make a difference in make neighborhood. While I was picking up trash by my house, many other IGNITE members were also picking up trash around their homes and downtown to send a very positive message on Earth Day.
You can’t change the past but you can change the future. How do you want our world to look in 25 years?
As people drove and walked by, they took notice of our actions. Hopefully inspiring others to do the same OR stopping someone from throwing their trash on the side of the road. Being a leader means inspiring and teaching others to make positive decisions that are not harmful to our environment.
Sooner than later,
